Green Rider Karigan G'ladheon has survived the battle in the Blackveil Forest, but she has been thrown forward 200 years, to a time very different from her own. An oppressive empire has replaced the line of her beloved King Zachary, and magic is all but lost in the world. A history professor fascinated by Karigan's past takes her in, and with his help and that of his student Harlowe Cade, she will attempt to get back to her own era. VERDICT The time jump makes this an easy place for those who haven't read the whole series (last visited in 2012's Blackveil) to begin, although it also means we don't get much time with the Green Rider corps, one of the more enjoyable aspects of Britain's world. Karigan has been through much in the course of the five books, and the ending here is left open for more stories featuring the brave rider.
